Visa & entry

·Many nationalities — including the US, Japan, Korea and much of Europe — can enter visa-free for 30–90 days.

·Your passport should be valid for at least 6 months beyond arrival.

·Rules change often: confirm with your nearest Mongolian embassy before booking flights.

·We provide invitation or booking letters if your application needs one.

Best time to visit

·Main season is May–October; July is warmest and hosts the Naadam festival.

·The Gobi is hot by day in summer (+30°C) but nights cool quickly — pack layers.

·September–early October: golden steppe, few visitors, and the Eagle Festival.

·Winter tours are possible (Tsagaan Sar, ice festivals) but need serious cold-weather gear.

Money & payments

·Currency is the Mongolian tögrög (MNT). Cards work widely in Ulaanbaatar.

·Carry cash for the countryside — there are no ATMs between towns.

·Exchange USD/EUR/JPY easily in UB banks; keep small notes for souvenirs.

·Your tour is prepaid via WeTravel, so daily costs on tour are minimal.

Internet & SIM

·Local SIM/eSIM (Unitel, Mobicom) is cheap and easy at the airport or in UB.

·Coverage is good in towns and along main routes; remote valleys have none.

·Most ger camps have electricity; some have Wi-Fi in the restaurant ger.

·Tell family you'll be offline on remote days — it's part of the trip.

Health & safety

·Travel insurance is required; medical-evacuation cover is strongly recommended.

·No special vaccinations are required for Mongolia.

·Drink bottled or boiled water; we carry safe drinking water in every vehicle.

·Mongolia is one of Asia's safest destinations — normal city caution applies in UB.

Getting to Mongolia

·Fly into Chinggis Khaan International (UBN) via Seoul, Tokyo, Beijing, Istanbul or Frankfurt.

·The Trans-Mongolian railway connects UB with Beijing and Moscow.

·Airport pickup is included on every tour — we meet you at arrivals.

·Allow a buffer day before international departure after long countryside loops.

Electricity & packing

·220V, European plugs (types C/E) — bring an adapter if needed.

·Vehicles have USB charging; a power bank covers remote nights.

·Layers beat bulk: sun hat, warm fleece, windproof shell, sturdy shoes.

·Headlamp, sunscreen and lip balm are the three most-forgotten items.

Culture & etiquette

·Receive food and gifts with your right hand or both hands.

·Step over the ger threshold — never on it — and move clockwise inside.

·Tipping the guide and driver is customary if you're happy (roughly $5–10/day each).

·A few Mongolian words — sain baina uu (hello), bayarlalaa (thank you) — open every door.
