How do I book a tour?

Choose your preferred tour and confirm your travel details with us. After agreeing to the itinerary and signing the booking agreement, you can pay a 20% deposit directly on our website by credit or debit card. Your booking will be confirmed once the deposit is received. The remaining 80% can be paid in cash on the first day of your tour.

Can I change or cancel my booking?

Date changes are free until 30 days before departure. Cancellation terms are shown at checkout — and we're flexible when flights or visas go sideways.

Is this a group tour or private?

This is a small-group tour with a flexible group size. You’ll travel with a guide and driver on the dates you choose and you might be joined by other travelers. If you would like a guaranteed private tour, please contact us directly. We can arrange a private trip with a custom itinerary to suit your preferences and dates. There is no minimum number of travelers required to book. Solo travelers are welcome.

Do you offer Japanese-speaking guides?

Yes — Japanese-speaking guiding and trip support are available on request. Tell us when you inquire so we can confirm availability for your dates.

What vehicles do you use?

Depending on group size and comfort level: Purgon, Starex, Hiace or Alphard — all driven by our own experienced drivers.

What is the food like?

All meals are included: ger camp meals, home cooking with host families, and local restaurants. Vegetarian and other diets can be arranged, tell us when booking.

Overview

Discover the incredible diversity of Mongolia's Gobi Desert on a 6-day road trip through constantly changing landscapes. From granite mountains and open steppe to wildlife-filled valleys, vast sand dunes, red sandstone cliffs and colorful badlands, the scenery changes dramatically from day to day. This is as much a journey as it is a sightseeing tour. You will spend many hours on the road, crossing remote landscapes and passing through small towns and villages along the way. Look out the window and watch Mongolia unfold like a movie: horses, camels, gazels, sheep, horses, goats and other animals may appear beside the road, while you may see herder families moving across the steppe or going about their daily lives. We will make stops along the way for photographs, short breaks and to enjoy interesting sights we encounter. We will also pass through local towns where we will stop for meals and rest. During the drives, your guide is there to answer your questions and introduce you to Mongolia's history, culture, geography, wildlife and everyday life. Most of the roads outside the main towns are unpaved. Expect bumps, dust and long stretches of remote countryside. The driving can be rough at times, but it is an authentic part of exploring Mongolia and gives the journey a genuine sense of adventure.

Day by day

Day 1

Ulaanbaatar – Baga Gazriin Chuluu

Depart early from Ulaanbaatar and drive south toward Baga Gazriin Chuluu, a spectacular granite rock formation rising to 1,768 meters above sea level. After arriving, check in to a traditional ger guesthouse run by a local family and enjoy lunch. Take some time to rest before exploring the surrounding granite formations on foot. Hike through the rocky valleys, enjoy the peaceful scenery and photograph the contrast between the dramatic rock formations and the surrounding steppe. In the evening, enjoy dinner at the guesthouse and spend the night in a traditional Mongolian ger. **Distance:** approximately 250 km

Day 2

Baga Gazriin Chuluu – Mandalgovi – Yolyn Am

After breakfast, continue south toward Mandalgovi, the capital of Dundgovi Province. Stop in town for lunch and a break before continuing toward Gurvan Saikhan National Park. Arrive at Yolyn Am (Eagle Valley), a spectacular mountain gorge surrounded by rugged peaks. Hike through the valley and keep an eye out for wildlife such as foxes, marmots and argali sheep. For those interested, horse riding is available as an optional activity in the area. After exploring the valley, continue to a local ger camp run by a Mongolian family. Enjoy dinner and spend the night in a traditional ger. **Distance:** approximately 400 km

Day 3

Yolyn Am – Khongor sand dunes

After breakfast, drive toward Khongoryn Els, the famous Singing Sand Dunes of the Gobi. After checking in at a local guesthouse, meet the family's Bactrian camels and set out on a camel ride toward the foot of the dunes. The largest dunes rise to around 300 meters and create one of the Gobi's most spectacular landscapes. Climb or hike up the dunes for panoramic views across the surrounding desert. On the way down, you can enjoy the fun of sliding down the sand on a sledge. Return to the guesthouse for a traditional Mongolian khorkhog dinner, prepared using hot stones, before spending the night in a ger. **Distance:** approximately 200 km

Day 4

Khongor sand dunes – Bulgan – Bayanzag Flaming Cliffs

After breakfast, drive toward Bayanzag Flaming Cliffs, passing through Bulgan village. Stop for lunch at a local café before continuing to Bayanzag. Explore the striking red sandstone cliffs, famous for their dramatic landscape and major dinosaur fossil discoveries. Visit the local museum and watch a film about the American expedition that brought international attention to the dinosaur fossils discovered here. Learn more about the area's prehistoric fauna and modern flora before walking through the cliffs and surrounding landscape. Enjoy time for photography and exploration before checking in to a nearby ger camp for the night. **Distance:** approximately 200 km

Day 5

Bayanzag – Dalanzadgad – Tsagaan Suvarga

After breakfast, continue toward Tsagaan Suvarga, stopping in Dalanzadgad, the capital of Ömnögovi Province, for lunch. Continue through the changing landscapes of the southern Gobi before arriving at Tsagaan Suvarga. Explore the spectacular colorful cliffs, shaped by millions of years of erosion. Walk around the area, take photographs and enjoy the views across this unusual landscape. Later, check in to a local ger guesthouse, enjoy dinner and spend the night in a traditional ger. **Distance:** approximately 350 km

Day 6

Tsagaan Suvarga – Mandalgovi – Ulaanbaatar

After breakfast, begin the long journey back to Ulaanbaatar. Stop in Mandalgovi for lunch and a short break before continuing north. Watch the landscape gradually transform as the colorful Gobi gives way to the wider Mongolian steppe. Arrive in Ulaanbaatar in the evening, bringing your 6-day Gobi adventure to an end. **Distance:** approximately 420 km
